A precious contribution towards education
Community involvement – or lack of it – is of utmost importance. Even a great project can fail if the community does not approve or endorse it and any help from the community members can help the program thrive.
Khartolat is a village in Goherabad. With the help of Alight Pakistan, the out of school children from local area are now enrolled in non- formal school. There are twenty-three girls and twenty boys attending the school run by Ms. Ghazala – the teacher. But there is yet another person whose efforts greatly contributed to school’s success. It is Ms. Mainaz, who volunteers in the school as a teaching assistant.
Ms. Mainaz has completed her FA and is now helping children from her village get education they need. She is also helping school staff to enroll new students. She is dedicating her time and energy to make sure the local children can study, and she does it all just for the sake of her community, without receiving any salary from either the government or the project budget. It is very brave of her to give her precious time to educate children and she is a role model for her community. It is through the efforts of people such as Ms. Mainaz that communities grow, and children get a chance to succeed.
