SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT – Zarina Batool – “It was not less than a miracle for me”

It was not less than a miracle for me– Zarina Batool Zarina Batool is a sixteen-year-old girl with exceptional talent. She is studying in class 9th of Uswa Girls Public School and College Skardu. She has one brother and three sisters. Her father is working as a security guard in a flour mill and he is the sole bread-winner of his family. Zarina and her family belong to a village of Kondos of Ghanche district. They moved to Skardu city in 2019 where they hired a small house on rent.

“I have always been at top position in my school since my childhood. I topped in Grade 8 board examination in Baltistan in 2020. The lack of medical facilities and suffering of people with bad health in my region in general and in my village in particular always motivated me to choose medical career. It was so difficult for me to continue my education as my other siblings were also studying in school and my father had no sound source of income. The illness of my mother and university fee of my brother already put extra burden on my father’s shoulders. Because of that I was almost ready to discontinue my education. But I always prayed to Allah for some miracle to accomplish my dream. I started searching for scholarship because I was very keen to pursue my goals. Indeed, it was a very hard time for me.”

In 2021, a scholarship was advertised by Moawin Foundation in local newspapers and on social media pages for talented students with poor financial background. It was not less than a miracle for me to have been shortlisted for the scholarship.

This scholarship not only helped me in overcoming financial difficulties and lifting some burden from father’s shoulders. It also boosted my morale and my confidence and made me more optimistic about achieving my goal. I am very thankful to the Moawin Foundation for taking such a great initiative for the students of the most deprived and deserving area of Baltistan.”
