A seminar on advocacy for the Out of School Children Crisis was conducted in Lahore, Punjab on June 27th, 2019. The event advocated and highlighted the key issues faced by Out-of-School-Children and further developed recommendations for addressing these barriers not only to achieve the target of OOSC under Educate A Child project but also to devise a potential way out at province level to regulate the issues for augmenting enrollment in the future on permanent basis.

The event was held with the coordination and collaboration of all key stakeholders including School Education Department Punjab (SEDP), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Basic Education Community Schools (BECS), Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Literacy & Non Formal Basic Education Department Punjab (L&NFBED) and Bunyad Literacy Community Council (BLCC).

The objectives of the event were to learn the best practices, key challenges and seek solutions from the government departments, organizations, media, and academia pertaining to the OOSC; and to highlight and advocate the issue with the policy and decision makers for possible solutions.

As an outcome of this seminar, various recommendations were given by the participants to tackle the Out of School Children crisis. These recommendations revolved around the maintaining quality of education, highlighting the Out of School Children crisis in the media to raise awareness, and addressing the root cause and barriers of this crisis.
